How to get to Full Moon Party, Koh Phangan

There is no direct flight or bus or train from Bangkok to Koh Phangan Island. The passengers are required to travel to Koh Samui Island by air or by bus or by train to Surat Thani Province and from Koh Samui Island or Surat Thani Province, there is the ferry transfer to cross over to Koh Phangan Island.

Boat Services from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan
There are approximately 10 daily transfers to Koh Phangan. Boats depart between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The trip takes approximately 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the weather conditions. Boats leave from Thong Sala Pier and Haad Rin on Koh Phangan to Koh Samui Pier including Na Thon Pier, Mae Nam and the Big Buddha.

From Surat Thani Province to Koh Phangan
Surat Thani Pier operates a minimum of 6 daily departures to Koh Phangan. Boats leave from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and arrive at Thong Sala Pier on Koh Phangan.

From Koh Tao to Koh Phangan
Approximately six daily departures from Thong Sala Pier to Koh Tao Island are provided. They leave from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

How to get to Full Moon Party

Koh Phangan Accommodation

On Haad Rin Beach at Koh Phangan, it is very difficult to find a bungalow some days before and after Full Moon Party. There are approximately 3,000 - 4,000 beds at Haad Rin Beach, Koh Phangan which is of course not enough in that Full Moon Party night, so make sure that you arrive a day or two before the party. If you can't get a room at Haad Rin, then take a taxi to the other parts of the island where you can find all kinds of accommodation. *Most of resorts require minimum stay 3-5 nights during the Full Moon Party Period.

Full Moon Party Tips

Do not bring your valuables to the party. Thousands people are there, you'll never catch the thief.
Keep away from drugs, no matter what anyone says. Someone might try to sell them to you but remember drugs are illegal in Thailand and very strong penalties.
Do not eat or drink anything that is offered by strangers.
If you don't plan to stay up all night at the party, you are advised to stay in bungalow facilities outside Haad Rin (unless you think you can sleep with that very loud party noise). Besides, there are more than hundred bungalow places to choose and you can go back to your bungalow anytime you like by all night taxi service.
